Capstone Presentations

My capstone presentation went pretty well. Before the judges came, I attempted to practice with my friends and I kept stumbling over my words and forgetting what I wanted to say. The fact that I was a public relations major made me even more nervous because I should be able to speak easily. I got to practice my speech on a few juniors and when the judges came, it was a breeze. They seemed very interested and they didn't ask alot of questions (hopefully because I answered them without being asked). The worst part about capstone was the nervousness I felt beforehand and the best part about capstone was the relief I felt afterwards.

Capstone Presentation Assets

At my booth I had my infographic poster, two magazines, a bowl of candy, and my laptop. I brought my laptop so I could show the video I made as my end product. I also had lipstick, eyeshadow, brushes, etc. as props on my table because my problem was false advertising in the beauty industry. The thing that made me stand out from most tables is the fact that my infographic was on an aisle front and center. When people would walk around, they would see the pink lady on my infographic along with all the makeup on my table and get curious.

Infographic

My capstone is about the effects of false advertising in the beauty industry on young girls. My infographic ties in with my capstone because it shows statistics relating to my topic. I didn't have to do anymore research than I already did for my capstone. The easiest part of the infographic was putting in the data. The hardest part was sizing and spacing the shapes I put in. I made my infographic during the spring semester.

My PSA Video

https://vimeo.com/120748373

How did you address your Statement of Intent in your PSA?

I basically gave a link to my capstone project so this video is basically an introduction to my capstone video.

Did you meet the other Requirements?

Yes, I met all three requirements.

What was the easiest and hardest part about producing your video?

The easiest part was making the prezi. The hardest part was exporting the video after I was done and I somehow ended up deleting my video.

Group Video Reflection

Making the group video was fun. We all decided that we were going to make a mock commercial for the iPhone 6. The group consisted of me, Neda, and Hannah. The only trouble we had was finding a way to make the video creative and interesting.

my video

Video Editing-
1. I have learned that Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 is the application that is used for video editing.
2. The most difficult part about editing my video was making the title page.
3. Adding effects is the easiest part.

My Video-
1. All in one shot.
2. At home.
3. My friends.

TED Talks: cosmic rays

There are thew things discovered everyday. That is why I think there is a such thing as aliens. It would be dumb of me to believe that there aren't any aliens somewhere in this universe. If there are living creatures on earth, there can be living creatures anywhere.

sight

In the short film "Sight" by Robot Genius, i got a sense of what the future might look like and I did not like it. It was very nerve-racking. In the video, life was just a game and nothing was real. On the date, the male character was using an app to evaluate the female characters voice, body language, and eye contact to determine how to get her to come home with him. Nothing was genuine and nothing was real.

internet posts

The YouTube video "amazing mind reader reveals his 'gift'" was the video that grabbed my attention the most. It showed that its not that hard to find out about someones life and it makes me cautious of what i put on the internet (not that I haven't been cautious before). There was also a post that showed you things like how many YouTube and Google searches are made every second. This really showed me that my generation spends A LOT more time on the internet than I thought.

I didn't really like the video "Web 2.0 ... The Machine is Us/ing Us". I didn't understand what was going on and it lost my attention midway through the video.

Web 1.0 is a basic web that doesn't really allow you to interact on the website. it's only for show.

Web 2.0 is the opposite of Web 1.0. This is what a social media website would be considered. You can make posts, upload pictures and etc.

Web 3.0 is a more advanced web where the internet acts like humans.
